Soaring Report for June 6, 1999

Collected by Dick Ruel

Last Saturday Rick Roekle got a three hour flight in the 1-26, he took off at about eleven just before the clouds started to develop.

Jan Zatloukal stayed up for five hours in the B-4, then came down and towed for an hour. By the way, Jan has moved to Indiana. I think its Indiana, anyway, one of those rectangle states in the mid-east, ok, mid-west.

Todd Hyten got a three hour flight his first time in the B-4!!

We signed up a new female member, Kim Nucifora. The board approved six new members last week.

This last Saturday, Sharon and I flew in from Skyhaven in the C-172 via the seacoast to Plum Island then direct to Sterling. We then took a 3k tow in the Blanik at three. Cloud base was 5,500 (I got to 5K) and the winds from the southwest. A wonderful day of flying.

Todd had another great flight in the B-4.

Bill Maxwell had a great flight in the 1-26.

Everyone was staying up for their hour in the Blanik and other ships.

Ted Hauri flew in from Lawrence in the "Champ" a took a guest in the Blanik.

Dezi and Frank Spital shared a long flight in the Blanik.

Both towplanes were going all day, with John Bergeson, Shawn Brown, Ritts Howard, Gerry Bell, and Paul London working as tow pilots. We were also towing MITSA.

Signed up at least one new member that I know off.

Renee Fishman and Bob Boyd were the SFO's, Dave Zlotek the instructor, and everybody had to share the responsibilities of FO.
