This is the last scheduled issue of the Soaring Report until April, 2001. Any reports, including hand scribbled or phoned in from exotic places such as Seminole or Turf, are welcomed and will be published upon receipt.

If you have any suggestions about improving the Soaring Report, let me know and I'll try to incorporate them next year.

Saturday was the last official day of the normal season since Sunday was rainy. Forecasted temperatures in the 40's never happened as it never got over the freezing mark to which I can attest to as I instructed in the 2-33 that day. Activity started off slow but GBSC had the 1-26 and 1-34 flying in addition to the 2-33. MITSA was also flying their 1-34 and an L-23. Plus, many of the private ship owners decided to get in one or two last seasonal flights even though thermal conditions were basically non-existent. Much of my time was spent doing glider ground retrieves since there were only about 7 members on the field (not necessarily at the same time) but the only complaint I have is that I should have worn a warmer hat.

The ever present Dave Cherkus stopped by and helped out on his way back from Connecticut. I think Sterling and Franconia are his homes away from home. Also, Tom Matthews was giving a BFR in the 2-33 that day. All in all it was a normal operating day and with that I'll conclude.
